Dr. Seuss Math Ideas
Dr. Seuss
Graph
Put all of the Dr.
Seuss books that you have read on a graph.
Have your children pick which one is their favorite and graph the
results.
Goldfish
Snacks Math
We are going to
count fish. I am going to use the rainbow colored
goldfish and give each student ten. We will count them out as I
call
out a number they will count that number of fish. When we have
completed the activity, students can eat their fish.
Red & White
Patterning Hat
(Photo submitted by Denise)
For the hats....I
used a hat pattern...and I added a little red dot to every other
stripe and told
the children they could only color in a line where they saw the dot. For
some of my kiddos
that helped others had a tough time with the every other line
pattern especially my
younger ones, but that is to be expected. Using the crayons we were still
able to see
the lines so they all came out adorable. And of course stapled it all to a
HEADBAND.
"The Foot
Book" Measurement
Measure all of your
children's feet. Trace them and put them in order of smallest to
largest.

Double Bubble
We use thinking maps
in our district which are different types of
graphic organizers. One we use is called the Double Bubble. It
is used
to compare and contrast two things. You could also use a vin
diagram.
It's the same concept. We use our double bubble and I give all
the
students some fish. Some that are red, some that are blue, and
some
that are red and blue. In the middle of one circle I'll put the
color
red and the students with red fish come place their fish around
the red
circle. In the other circle I would put blue, and students with
blue
fish put theirs around the blue circle. If they have fish with
blue and
red they would put those between the two circles.
