Dinosaur Land
Provide children
with small and/or large dinosaur toys. Have available
other play items such as boxes, blocks, a sand area, etc., which
the
children may utilize in their creation of an imaginary dinosaur
land.
Dinosaur Role
Play
Have the children
role-play a literature based dinosaur story.
Prehistoric
Parade
Play different types
of instrumental music. Have the children move around
the room, pretending to be the dinosaurs that the music reminds
them
of. For example, a march might remind them of Tyrannosauruses;
light
airy music, Pteranondons; slow music, Apatosauruses, munching on
plants in the swamp. When you stop the music, encourage
the children to tell you which dinosaurs they were.
Caveman
Costume
This can be made out
of anything that is fuzzy or looks like animal
skin. A piece of fake fur cloth, animal print cotton (leopard,
tiger or
zebra) or even an old bath or throw rug.( No sewing necessary,
cave people didn't sew!). Cut a hole in the center, allowing
enough
fabric to fall down the front and back of the cave person evenly,
and to drape around each side. Trim with scissors if necessary.
Tie costume in place, at the waist, with a sash or cord.
