Read the story, "My Dentist" by Harlow Rockwell or "The Berenstain
Bears
Visit the Dentist" and identify the various tools the dentist
uses.
The Crocodile and the Dentist
Are some of your students hesitant to visit a dentist? Use this
book to
present a lighthearted discussion
about this topic. After sharing
the book,
ask youngsters whether they think the crocodile's fears were
necessary. Then
invite children to share their feelings about going to the
dentist. Guide
children,
especially those who have had positive dental
experiences, to share
with the group. Then wrap
things up on a reassuring note with a
reading of "My
Dentist, My Friend" by P. K. Hallinan.
