Block Fun
            Bulletin Board Idea

            Materials Needed:
            Wooden blocks
            Cardboard blocks
            Cars, trucks, assorted vehicles

            Directions:
I set out the tubs of wooden and cardboard blocks ( I have two
            age groups in care.
Children that are three and over play with wooden blocks. Children younger
            than
3 play with the cardboard blocks.) There are also small cars, mail truck,
            fire truck,
dump trucks, helicopters, airplane and other assorted vehicles in the
            block area.
I invite the children to build a structure with their blocks. When
            they finish I
take their picture next to their structure and we display it on our
            picture board.

      This Tool Is
      Cool
      Create
a bulletin board to display your children's favorite tools.  Ask each
      child to draw a
picture of herself using her favorite tool.  Have her dictate an
      ending to the sentence starter
"This tool is cool because..."  Write each child's sentence on her
      picture.  Display the pictures
on a bulletin board.  Then make a unique border with this fun
      painting technique.  Purchase
a disposable plastic trowel and a few large car washing sponges at your
      local hardware store.
Dip each sponge into a different color of tempera paint.  Have a
      child press the trowel onto
the sponge of her choice and then press it onto a sheet of white paper.
      Wipe the trowel
clean before changing paint colors to make more prints.  When all the
      papers have dried,
trim the prints and use them to make a border around the bulletin board.
