Cheery Santa
Chant
This call and response chant answers a few
pressing
questions about a certain jolly man.
Teacher: Who makes toys for Santa's
shelves?
Children: It's Santa's, Santa's, Santa's elves!
Teacher: What makes Santa look so cute?
Children: It's Santa's, Santa's, Santa's suit.
Teacher: What speeds Santa on his way?
Children: It's Santa's, Santa's, Santa's Sleigh.
Teacher: Who guides Santa without fear?
Children: It's Santa's, Santa's, Santa's deer!
Santa Claus Is
Coming To Town
Oh! You better watch out,
You better not cry,
You better not pout,
I'm telling you why:
Santa Claus is coming to town!
He's making a list,
Checking it twice,
Gonna find out who's naughty or nice.
Santa Claus is coming to town!
He sees you when you're sleeping,
He knows when you're awake.
He knows if you've been bad or good,
So be good for goodness sake!
Oh! You better watch out,
You better not cry,
You better not pout,
I'm telling you why:
Santa Claus is coming to town!
Santa's
Cookies
Make a class supply of cookie cutouts and label
each one with a different child's
name in class. Provide access to a large decorative plate. Hold
up a cookie and
have students identify the name. Then lead them in reciting the
chant below.
At the end of the chant, have the child place her cookie on
Santa's plate.
All: Who will add a cookie to Santa's
plate?
All: ( Child's name ) will add a cookie to
Santa's plate.
Child: Who, me?
Teacher: Yes, you!
Child: Okay, will do!
Here Comes
Santa Claus
Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus,
Right down Santa Claus lane.
He's got a bag that is filled with toys
For the boys and girls again.
Bells are ringing, children singing,
All is merry and bright,
Hang your stockings and say your prayers,
'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.
Up On the
Housetop
Up on the housetop reindeer pause,
Out jumps good old Santa Claus,
Down through the chimney with lots of toys,
All for the little ones Christmas joys.
Ho, ho, ho, who wouldn't go'
Ho, ho, ho, who wouldn't go?
Oh, up on the housetop,
Click, click, click,
Down through the chimney with good St. Nick.

Santa's Workshop
Here is a great big Christmas tree Trimmed with lights and balls.
(Put tips of fingers of both hands together, palms apart)
Here are Santa's little elves.
They run when Santa calls.
(Hold up ten fingers and wiggle them)
This is Santa's workshop,
Filled with gifts and toys
(Use both hands to form a house)
The elves and helpers fill the sleigh,
For all good girls and boys.
