Butterfly Bulletin Board Ideas
Oh My! Look Who Can Tie!
This cute caterpillar bulletin
board encourages your children to learn
how to tie their own shoes.
Make a large caterpillar's head
(using a paper plate to trace the circle
shape). Attach the
caterpillars head to a bulletin board; then add a
class supply
of paper circles, each labeled with a child's name, for the
body.
Also cut out a class supply of tiny shoes. As each child
learns to tie,
have him/her choose a pair of shoes to add to his/her
caterpillar section.
Monarch Metamorphosis
Make this mystery display to
introduce the concept of metamorphosis.
Divide a bulletin board with
the title "Monarch Metamorphosis" into four sections.
Then mount a
question mark cutout in each space. Bring in caterpillars for
the
children to observe; then every few days replace a question mark
with one
of the labeled stages of metamorphosis as directed below:
Box 1: Display a paper leaf and half of a Styrofoam egg shape.
Box 2: Display a paper leaf and half of a painted cardboard
egg carton.
Box 3: Display a paper leaf and a chrysalis cut from paper.
Box 4: Have children decorate butterfly cutouts to place in
the last box.
