Body Science Ideas
Safety Skin
Use this activity to show
children how skin protects the body. Fill two bowls with
water and
cover one with saran wrap to represent the skin. Ask one of
the children to blow on top of the
bowls to represent wind. Ask another child to drip a couple
of drops of blue food coloring onto
the bowls to represent rain. Ask another child to sprinkle pepper
into each bowl to represent
dirt and germs. Discuss and compare how the "skin" helps and
protects the water in one bowl.
Explain to the children that their skin protects their bodies from
weather, dirt, and germs.
