Beach Snack
Use cups and have the kids crush vanilla wafers
and mix
them in vanilla pudding. Then place the mixture in the cups.
Variation: Use graham crackers or vanilla cookies
instead of vanilla wafers.
Shells and Sand
Boil
shell macaroni until tender, drain, have children add
butter or margarine and then add parmesan cheese.
Pasta Shells
Cook
pasta shells according to the package directions.
Then try one of these ideas. Place the shells in small bowls and let
your children spoon on pasta sauce and grated cheese. Allow the shells
to cool, add chopped veggies, and toss with a favorite salad dressing.
Beach Cake
Bake cupcakes. Frost with blue
tinted icing. Dip half of cupcake in crushed
vanilla wafers to create a 'beach'. Add a little cocktail umbrella as a
finishing touch
Beach Bunt Cake
Bake a bunt cake... frost with
sand colored icing. Pour blue icing in center
of bunt cake for the ocean. Using toothpicks, paint swimsuits/swim
trunks
onto teddy grahams and place them on the beach or in the ocean. Use
white
life saver mints as life preservers... break off a teddy grahams legs and
place
on "life preserver". Using icing, make beach towels in the sand and
so on.
Sand Dollar
Cookies
Use a basic cookie dough recipe
or refrigerated dough. Give each child some cookie
dough and have them shape their own cookie in the shape of a sand dollar
before baking.
Beach Ball
Toast
Begin by making colored milk by
adding a drop or two of
food coloring to several separate containers of milk.
Place a small, clean paintbrush in each color of milk.
To make a piece of beach ball toast, a child uses a
biscuit cutter to cut a circle from a slice of bread.
Then he/she decorates the bread circle with
any colors of milk he/she chooses, making stripes
or dots or any other beach ball design. Toast the
decorated bread circles in a toaster oven; then serve each one
with a splash of "water" - a dollop of blue tinted cream cheese.
Beach in a Bag
Give
each child a small ziploc bag. Set out in bowls the following
ingredients. Put a spoon in each bowl, and let the children transfer a
spoonful to their bag. Serve with water!
Dry chow mein noodles- (seaweed)
Pretzel sticks-(driftwood)
Goldfish Crackers- (fish)
Granola-(sand)
Cheerios- (life preservers)
