Alligator Game Ideas

Alligator Game

This game is similar to Duck Duck Goose.

Have the children stand in a circle. Select one child to be it.
Have that child walk around the outside of the circle, tapping
children on their shoulders and saying, "turtle." When It is ready
to run, have him or her tap one last child on the shoulder and say
"Alligator!" The child who was tapped last chases It around the circle.
Whoever is back in the child's place last is the next It.

Alligator Smile and Crocodile Tears

Children sit in a circle and one child is chosen to be “it”.  That child must leave
the room while you choose an “alligator”.  “It” returns to the middle of the circle.
Alligator must secretly flash a bright, broad ‘alligator smile’ to someone in
the circle without “it” seeing him/her doing it.  The person who was smiled
at must lie down and cry ‘crocodile tears’.  Alligator continues to smile until
either he is figured out or all the children are shedding ‘crocodile tears’.

See Ya Later, Alligator
End of School Countdown

Count down the last five days of school.  In advance, plan at least one
alligator activity for each of the last 5 days of school.  Cut out five
 construction paper alligators.  Write the number 5 on one alligator;
then flip it over and write the alligator activity planned for the first
day of the countdown.  Program the next alligator with the number
4 and the activity planned for the second day of the countdown.
Program the remaining alligators in a similar manner so that
each one is labeled with a different activity and number 1 to 5.
Use pushpins to mount the alligators on a blue paper display.
During circle time, invite the children to chant the following:

"How many days are left in school?
Let's count the alligators in the pool.

Have the children count the alligators on display and then say how
many days remain.  Invite a child to find the alligator with that number and remove
it from the display.  Then read aloud the activity written on the back of the alligator.
